Environment

When financial gain is placed above the common good, we all lose.

We compromise the land that has protected and sustained us for generations.

We lose the balance between what we take and what we give back.

We lose our shared future.

What's at Stake

These issues aren’t just important to Native Americans. When we lose sight of how deeply we are all connected to the land and to each other, we all bear the costs in the end.

FOOD

Natural food becoming harder to access brings predictable results: heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure. The long-term costs of a diet built around whatever’s the least expensive and readily available is ultimately measured in people: a story playing out in every community.

“Natural” Disasters

Disasters that used to be rare are becoming routine. And with each flood, wildfire, or tornado, we don’t just lose property. We lose our sense of safety, stability, and belonging. The human cost is carried by families, neighbors, and entire communities. And it’s reaching more people than ever before.

Intentional Environmental Disasters

These trade-offs used to feel removed for most. Now, we face water shortages as new data centers strain power grids and water supplies. Entire communities worry about the safety of the water they drink as pipelines cross our water sources. Future generations are left with land that may never heal as mining continues to expand. For many people, the trade-offs are real now and affecting their everyday lives.

This Can End Differently

This isn’t about switching from one way to another. We can combine what we’ve learned in the last two hundred and fifty years with knowledge that’s guided this land for twenty thousand.

Native nations believe in and have practiced reciprocity: caring for the land in a way that lets it keep giving back, season after season.

Today, we can put that same idea to work. Every choice about who represents us, and what we ask them to prioritize, is a chance to bring people and profit back into balance.
